Andres Lopera is a licensed Professional Engineer with over twenty (20) years of structural design experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida (2001) and a Master of Science in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering (2018) from the University of Central Florida.

Mr. Lopera has performed structural analysis and design for thousands of projects — from churches, office buildings, and multi-family developments to custom oceanfront homes and heavy industrial facilities including pulp/paper mills and chemical plants. He also provides forensic and expert consulting services for insurance property claims and construction defect disputes, investigating issues involving roofing, structural framing, windows and doors, EIFS/stucco systems, foundations, and retaining walls. His forensic work ranges from hurricanes and flooding to fire, sinkhole activity, soil settlement, and construction defects, and includes experience as a retained expert in deposition and trial testimony.

Mr. Lopera also served as Vice Chairman of the Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission (JHPC), appointed by the Mayor of Jacksonville, giving him particular depth in assessing and designing repairs to historic structures. This position served the historic Riverside, Avondale, Springfield, Murray Hill, San Marco and Ortega areas of Jacksonville.

Mr. Lopera earned a B.S in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida and is pursuing a M.S. in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Central Florida. He is a licensed professional engineer; is certified with the OSHA 10-hour certification and the MSHA 24-hour certification and has performed Threshold and Special Inspections.

Mr. Lopera brings twelve (12) years of experience as a structural engineer for hundreds of projects including churches, office buildings, amenity centers, multi-family buildings and custom ocean-front homes, as well as heavy industrial design experience for pulp & paper mills and chemical industrial plants. He has designed structures for high velocity hurricane zones (HVHZ); earthquake; coastal wind exposure; and wave velocity forces.

He also provides expert analysis in failures of roofing, structural members, fenestrations and foundations/retaining walls. With his extensive design knowledge, he investigates failures in design, quantity, material, installation and workmanship. He has prepared expert reports for property claims and construction defects on hundreds of claims which exceeded $500,000 each.
